I was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. After finishing high school at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Nachitoches, I went west, to California, where I majored in French at UC Berkeley, taking lots of courses in comparative literature, English, history, and philosophy. I studied Russian, German, and Portuguese as well. I taught for three years at Lawton Alternative School in SF Unified School District before starting graduate school in the Department of French and Italian at Stanford. After leaving but not finishing–can you say “all but“–I landed at the American Indian Public Charter School in Oakland. My next stop was Sacred Heart Preparatory School in Atherton, and I am currently in the English Department at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory. When will the journey end?
That’s enough for now. You’ll learn my interests and pet peeves as I blog away.
